Bhubaneswar, April 11: Delhi Police have apprehended a 22-year-old man from Bhubaneswar for his suspected involvement with a radical group, following an investigation that traced his online activities across multiple social media platforms. The accused, identified as Sheik Imran, is believed to have been an active participant in a private online group where he reportedly circulated radical content with a religious ideology, posing a serious threat to national security. Authorities say that Imran engaged in discussions and shared extremist material via platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp, and Signal, which caught the attention of Delhi Police's Special Cell. A recent investigation led to the detention of several young individuals in the national capital. During questioning and a detailed review of their social media interactions, a link to Odisha emerged. Acting on this lead, Delhi Police coordinated with Bhubaneswar Police to track down and arrest Imran in the Unit VI area of Bhubaneswar, as confirmed by a police statement. Imran was subsequently presented before the SDJM Court in Bhubaneswar, where he was granted transit remand to facilitate further legal action. This arrest follows a series of recent apprehensions by Delhi Police, which have revealed a systematic recruitment strategy within the network. Early-stage recruits were reportedly tasked with low-risk activities, such as logistics, surveillance, and messaging, but their roles eventually escalated to more dangerous undertakings.
