New Delhi, June 26: In a horrific incident, a female patient, who was allegedly sexually assaulted by another patient inside Jag Pravesh Chandra (JPC) Hospital in Delhi, passed away on Wednesday while receiving treatment.
As per reports, New Usmanpur Police Station received information about the alleged sexual assault of a female patient at JPC Hospital on Monday.
During the course of investigation, it was found that the woman had been admitted to the hospital on June 21. While receiving treatment, she left her ward, and an incident of alleged molestation took place. Following this, New Usmanpur Police took legal action under the relevant sections of the law.
She was later referred to GTB Hospital for specialized treatment. According to her medico-legal report (MLC), no visible external injuries were found during the examination.
On Wednesday, GTB Hospital confirmed that the patient had died during treatment. A case has already been registered, and further legal action will be taken based on the post-mortem examination (PME) report.
Earlier on Monday, after receiving information about the alleged sexual assault, the police said, "When the team reached the hospital, they found that a female patient had been sexually assaulted by another patient, identified as Mohd. Faiz (23), a resident of Kachchi Khajuri."
They added that a case has been registered under the relevant legal sections at New Usmanpur Police Station, and the accused has been arrested.
Further investigation into the matter is underway.
