New Delhi, Dec 10: Delhi’s Patiala House Court has summoned Bollywood legend Dharmendra and two others in a cheating case linked to the "Garam Dharam Dhaba" franchise.
Businessman Sushil Kumar alleged he was lured into investing ₹63 lakh with promises of high profits and support to establish a franchise. Despite paying ₹17.70 lakh and purchasing land, Kumar claims no progress was made, leaving him cheated.
Judicial Magistrate Yashdeep Chahal observed prima facie evidence of intent to deceive and directed the accused to respond to charges under IPC Sections 420 (cheating), 120B (criminal conspiracy), and 506 (criminal intimidation). The case will be heard on February 20, 2025.
Police earlier classified the dispute as a civil breach of contract, but the court found grounds for criminal proceedings.
