Global funds line up to secure Jio Platforms shares
Global and domestic institutional investors have already signaled extraordinary interest in the upcoming Jio Platforms initial public offering, generating initial demand nearing ₹2.5 lakh crore. Such early projections indicate institutional appetite outstripping the ₹30,213-crore issue size by over eight times before formal bidding begins. The public issue consists entirely of fresh equity shares with no offer for sale by existing promoters, ensuring all raised capital flows directly into the company.
Strong global and domestic backing
Sovereign wealth funds and prominent long-only global investors are heavily represented in early indications. International heavyweights including GIC, Norges Bank Investment Management, Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, Qatar Investment Authority, BlackRock, Fidelity, and Capital Group have expressed strong interest. Domestic institutions like Life Insurance Corporation, SBI Mutual Fund, and HDFC Mutual Fund are also positioning themselves to secure allocations. This intense preliminary interest comes right before the anchor investor book formally opens on October 19.
Retail market opportunities
Pre-applications for retail buyers have already gone live across various broking platforms, letting individuals register their orders ahead of the October 21 opening. Investors can lock in their bids for a price band fixed between ₹1,065 and ₹1,119 per share. Retail participants must bid for a minimum lot of 12 shares, requiring an upfront commitment of ₹13,428 at the upper price limit. Market dominance drives this historic fundraising effort. Jio Platforms continues to shape India's digital communications landscape through integrated telecom and technological services. Bidding officially runs from October 21 through October 23. Final retail orders submitted via pre-applications will automatically enter the system once the exchange opens the issue next Wednesday.
