Bhubaneswar/New Delhi, May 19: Biju Janata Dal (BJD) Rajya Sabha MP Sasmit Patra has informed that a multi-party parliamentary delegation, led by Shiv Sena MP Dr. Shrikant Eknath Shinde, will depart on May 21 to highlight Pakistan’s sponsorship of terrorism on the global stage.
“Our delegation, under the leadership of Shrikant Shinde, will leave on the night of May 21 and return by June 3 or 4,” said Patra. “We will present how Pakistan has become a hub for terrorism and how it has exported terror into India. We will also explain the necessity behind launching Operation Sindoor.”
The delegation, comprising members from both the ruling and opposition parties, will travel to the United Arab Emirates, Liberia, Congo, and Sierra Leone. The initiative aims to counter global misinformation and showcase India's firm stance on terrorism.
The team includes BJP leaders Bansuri Swaraj, Atul Garg, and Manan Kumar Mishra, as well as IUML MP Mohammed Basheer, BJD's Sasmit Patra, and Sujan Chinoy.
Operation Sindoor, launched on May 7, was a retaliatory strike against terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, following the deadly Pahalgam terror attack on April 22. The operation reportedly neutralized over 100 terrorists affiliated with Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba, and Hizbul Mujahideen.
In the aftermath, Pakistan responded with intense cross-border shelling and drone strikes. India then conducted a series of coordinated airstrikes targeting critical military assets across 11 Pakistani airbases. By May 10, both nations agreed to an unprecedented ceasefire, marking a significant pause in hostilities. ( With Agency Input)
