Puri, Oct 9: The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) in Puri has decided to implement a 'decent attire' rule for devotees.
Sources in the SJTA said that the new rule will come into force from New Year and awareness drive for devotees will begin from tomorrow.
The temple administration, meanwhile, said the devotees are advised to maintain decency in their clothes while visiting Srimandir.
“Devotees should were traditional clothes while visiting Jagannath temple. They should not wear western clothes including shorts, ripped jeans and skirts. Dress code has been introduced at several shrines across the country,” said an official of SJTA.
A dress code for the servitors has already been implemented since October, 2021. As per the code, the servitors have been directed to wear only dhoti, towel and patta while performing their duties in the temple.
