Kolkata, October 5: In the wake of a devastating landslide in Darjeeling district, political leaders from across West Bengal's spectrum have come together to express their condolences and call for swift government intervention. Both the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) and opposition parties, including the BJP and Congress, have expressed deep sorrow over the tragic loss of lives.
The landslide, triggered by heavy rainfall, claimed at least 18 lives, with numerous homes being swept away, a bridge destroyed, and vital road links severed, further complicating relief efforts.
TMC's national general secretary, Abhishek Banerjee, BJP's state president, Samik Bhattacharya, and Leader of the Opposition, Suvendu Adhikari, have all pledged support to the victims' families, urging the state administration to expedite the delivery of relief materials to the affected areas.
