In the last two months, there have been six deaths and 11 people injured on this stretch, which lies in Bangiriposi block. The road has sharp turns and poor lighting, making it risky for drivers. Local organisations and residents had been urging the government to take action.

Now, a Gujarat-based company has won the Rs 133 crore contract to widen and improve the road. Work will begin soon after the final approval from the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI).

According to NHAI Project Director JP Dasbarma, the work will focus on widening the road, fixing 10 dangerous curves, installing proper lighting, and ensuring ambulance services are available 24/7. The goal is to prevent accidents and make travel safer between Odisha and Jharkhand.

This long-awaited project brings hope for safer journeys and better infrastructure in the region.
