Bhubaneswar, Oct 8: A cyclonic circulation has developed over the North Bay of Bengal and adjoining regions on Monday, and is expected to remain active till October 9, according to senior agricultural meteorologist Professor Surendranath Pashupalak. Weather models also indicate the formation of another cyclonic circulation over the central Bay of Bengal, away from the Andhra Pradesh coast, around Wednesday. Both systems are likely to merge by the evening of October 10, forming a larger cyclonic circulation over a wider area.
Despite these developments, there is no forecast of a low-pressure area forming over the Bay during this period.
Professor Pashupalak has predicted light rainfall across various parts of Odisha over the next three days, with daily precipitation expected to be around 15 mm. Some regions may experience moderate rainfall during this time.
Following this, light rain (up to 15 mm) is expected in southern coastal and adjoining areas on October 10 and 11. Coastal districts including Khordha, Puri, Ganjam, and Gajapati are also likely to receive light rainfall on October 12 and 13.
Between October 7 and 11, there is a possibility of thunderstorms accompanied by rain across the state. However, from October 14 onwards, dry weather is expected to prevail.
