Bhubaneswar, December 8: BJD President and Leader of Opposition Naveen Patnaik has condemned the tragic death of a Rajgangpur college student, who succumbed to burn injuries after allegedly setting herself on fire due to harassment by a male friend. The victim passed away early on Monday while undergoing treatment at the IGH hospital in Rourkela.

Patnaik accused the BJP government of a “complete collapse of law and order” and called for immediate action against the accused.

He expressed deep condolences to the grieving family and criticized the government’s inaction, despite the family repeatedly reporting threats to the police.

Patnaik warned that administrative indifference was emboldening criminals, leaving women unsafe. He pointed out that this was the fifth such incident in six months and demanded the government take swift action to prevent further tragedies.
