Gajapati, Oct 29: While the turbulence of the Cyclonic system Montha is almost no more, but the major landslide triggered for it following incessant rain has kept the district yet away from the outer world.
Heaps of boulders on the road across the R Udayagiri block, have severely disrupted road connectivity in the Gajapati district so far.
As of today, the massive landslides in different regions have isolated several villages in the block from the outer world as they are unable to commute elsewhere using road-connectivity.
According to reports, large boulders and mud slid down from the Ramagiri–Badagaon Ghat, completely blocking the main road that connects Gajapati and Ganjam district.
The massive damage to roads, especially alarming collapses mostly occurred between Ramagiri and Badagaon area, creating trouble for the traffic movements.
The district admin with the help of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) contingent initiated clearance operations on spot to ease traffic. Heavy machinery and manpower have been deployed to remove the debris and restore connectivity so far, said sources.
