Bhubaneswar, Oct 27: Weather conditions changed across several parts of Odisha on Tuesday as rain and thunderstorms began in coastal districts under the reported influence of Cyclone Arnab.

Cuttack witnessed cloudy skies, light drizzling and mild winds from the early morning. Rain accompanied by thunder was reported in Puri, while Bhubaneswar experienced overcast and cool weather.

In Khordha district, heavy rainfall was reported in Tangi, Balugaon, Banpur and nearby areas. Road traffic was reportedly disrupted in some places, while boat movement in Chilika Lake and fishing activities were suspended as a precaution.

Brahmagiri in Puri district also witnessed heavy rain from the morning, accompanied by occasional thunder and light winds. The area reportedly experienced a power outage, disrupting electricity supply.

Rainfall also began in Berhampur and other parts of Ganjam district. In Gajapati, intermittent drizzle was reported after a change in weather conditions around midnight.

In Chhatrapur, rough sea conditions and large waves were reported along the coast. The district administration has prohibited people from visiting the beach, according to the information provided.

The changing weather comes as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) tracks Cyclone Arnab over the Bay of Bengal. The IMD has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall in parts of Odisha and warned of rough to very rough sea conditions along the coast. Residents have been advised to follow official weather updates and local administration instructions.

Further updates on rainfall, transport and power supply disruptions are awaited.
