Balasore, June 14: In a major breakthrough, the Cyber Cell of the Crime Branch has arrested six persons in connection with four separate cyber fraud cases. These arrests were made following an investigation into fraudulent investment schemes that duped victims of approximately Rs 3.72 crore.
The identities of the accused have yet to be ascertained.
Earlier, several other accused had also been apprehended in connection with these current cases. Investigations revealed that the arrested persons had allowed their bank accounts to be used for carrying out the fraudulent transactions.
The accused come from diverse professional backgrounds , two are farmers, one is a spice trader, another a motor mechanic, one is a factory worker, and the arrested woman is employed in a private job.
Authorities continue to investigate the network and financial trails involved in this large-scale cyber fraud operation.
