Cuttack, Sept 26: Cuttack District Food Safety Officer Amita Das has been transferred following the seizure of adulterated paneer and chhena in the district. According to reports, she has been transferred to Rairangpur on the directions of the State Food Safety Commissioner.

The development comes after allegations of adulteration in chhena and paneer being brought to Cuttack city from the Niali and Adaspur areas. Following the complaints, the Food Safety Department conducted inspections and collected samples for testing.
The test reports of the samples reportedly found substances including maida and detergent in the paneer and chhena. The Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) Health Department had collected samples from three locations and sent them for laboratory testing.
The reports, which were reportedly received by the State Food Safety Commissioner after nearly a month, indicated the presence of maida and detergent-like substances in the dairy products.

However, further investigation is required to determine the purpose for which these substances were used and the quantity in which they were present.
The Food Safety Department had conducted several raids across Cuttack city in August following complaints regarding adulterated dairy products. There were also allegations that large quantities of chhena and paneer were being transported to the city every day from areas around Niali and Adaspur.
