Jajpur, Oct 6: In a tragic incident, a woman went missing in the Kharasrota River in Jajpur on Monday after a crocodile dragged her into the water.

The incident  wreaked panic in Bari area in Jajpur district, as the ferocious croc dragged the woman near the Kantia village under the Bodua  GP limit in the broad daylight, that too in the presence of crowd.

The deceased has been identified as Soudamini Mahal wife of Sukadev of the Kantia village.

According to report, Soudamini was taking a bath in the Kharasrota River in the afternoon. Meanwhile, a crocodile dragged her into the high stream of water. Within minutes, she went missing in water.

On being informed of the mishap, local rushed to the spot to rescue the victim but in vain. Following this, fire services wings swung into action to fish out the woman.
