Boudh, Aug 25: Foundation stone was laid for the construction of a district-level stadium in Boudh in 2006. However, the construction work is yet to be completed after 17 years.
According to reports, the state government had laid the foundation stone for the construction of a district-level stadium on a patch of 10-acre land near Panchayat College in 2006 in a bid to develop sports infrastructure.
The government has spent over Rs 2 crore on construction work of the stadium. However, it is yet to be completed due to unknown reasons, alleged sportsman Sritam Naga.
The ground needs special soil to be laid on the surface which is not available in Boudh. It will be brought from the Athamallik area in the Angul district. The district sports department has sent a proposal to the state government in this regard. The construction work will resume after approval of the proposal, said an official of the district sports department on condition of anonymity.
