Bhubaneswar, July 23: Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida on Wednesday expressed State Government’s strong commitment to safe and dignified workplace for all, especially women employees and said strict directives have been issued to establish Internal Complaints Committees in all institutions and colleges to ensure proper implementation of the POSH Act.
She was speaking as the chief guest at an orientation programme on the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 - commonly known as the POSH Act - organised at the Lok Seva Bhavan Convention Centre.
Addressing over 600 employees of Lok Seva Bhavan, the Deputy Chief Minister, who also holds the Women and Child Development portfolio, urged them to raise their voices against sexual harassment and to foster a culture of respect and equality.
“Both men and women can be victims of sexual harassment. Therefore, it is crucial for everyone to be aware of the provisions of the POSH Act and remain vigilant,” she said.
Highlighting that women and men are the two wheels of society, she stressed the need for harmony and mutual respect between all genders to build a safe workplace and a progressive society.
“Strict directives have been issued to establish Internal Committees in all institutions and colleges to ensure proper implementation of the POSH Act,” she said.
“Stern legal action will be ensured for the guilty following proper investigation, and at the same time, individuals found making false allegations will also face consequences,” warned the Deputy CM.
Noted lawyer Manasi Padhi delivered a detailed presentation on the POSH Act during two dedicated sessions, spreading awareness among the participants. She explained the provisions, rights, responsibilities, and redressal mechanisms under the Act in depth.
The event was also graced by Women and Child Development Director, Monisha Banerjee and senior departmental officials.
