​​​​​​​Bhubaneswar, Jan 28: With the severity of the explosion that took place at Azad Nagar,Sundarpada in Bhubaneswar City on Tuesday, the National Investigation Agency(NIA) initiated probe into the matter.

A team of the NIA on Wednesday visited the spot, collected sample and quizzed the injured ones in the hospital including the alleged kingpin, identified as Shehnaj Alli.

The NIA got into the investigation as the Commissionerate Police reportedly sniffed a high-profile bomb making syndicate behind the yesterday’s explosion.

While illegal arms peddling cases are on the rise in Twin-Cities Bhubaneswar & Cuttack, a bomb making den was discovered in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday.

The incident came to limelight last evening after 4 persons, residing in the Capital City’s Sundarpada sustained critical burn injuries after a massive explosion, took place on the roof of a residential building.

Police, after investigation, unveiled that the explosion was triggered while the house owner, identified as Shehnaj Alli with some of his aides was making bombs at his New Azad Nagar residence.

During further investigation, the sleuths discovered a bomb making unit on the 1st floor of Sjehnaj Ali’s residence. At the same time, the police also digged out the crime history of Shehnaj who was entangled in various heinous offences.

Shehnaj and three others who are now undergoing treatment, are under police vigil. Initial investigation revealed that Shehnaj is the mastermind behind the bomb-making unit.

DCP Bhubaneswar Jagmohan Meena said, all the injured ones are under police scanner.Legal actions againt them will be initiated soon after they are discharged from the hospital.
