Bhubaneswar, January 1: Odisha has successfully procured 10.50 lakh metric tonnes (MT) of paddy this Kharif season, benefiting 2.30 lakh farmers across 18 districts. The ₹2,350 crore procurement includes payments through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), with ₹3,169 per quintal for common grade paddy in the 2025-26 season.

To prevent overflow, the state secured an agreement for 6 lakh MT of rice procurement by April 2026, with 5 lakh MT being parboiled rice. Odisha also holds a surplus of 7 lakh MT, with 1 lakh MT to be auctioned.

The procurement process has been efficient, with 9.41 lakh tokens issued, double last year's figure. To ensure fair pricing, 303 AI-based grain analyzers and 140 modern grain cleaners are deployed. The government has implemented a zero-tolerance policy against unauthorized weight deductions and will continue procurement through March.
