Koraput, Oct 2: With the withdrawal of rain, winter chill has started setting in across the hilly areas of Odisha. In the Lamtaput block of Koraput district, dry weather has begun to prevail, while temperatures are steadily falling.
The mercury has started dipping below 13°C, bringing a noticeable chill to the region. Dewdrops covering grass, flowers and leaves have added to the winter beauty of the area.

A light cold wave accompanied by dense fog begins to set in after 10 pm, with thick fog continuing throughout the night. Visibility remains extremely poor until around 9 am, making road travel difficult.
The Jaypore-Lamtaput route, which connects the region to Visakhapatnam, witnesses regular movement of heavy vehicles. However, dense fog has been causing considerable difficulties for motorists and other commuters, particularly during the early morning hours.
The region received good rainfall this year, and the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast a good winter in the hilly areas as well.
