Bhubaneswar, Oct 18: Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday ordered high-level surveys to resolve pending land issues related to project displaced people and Sikkim landholders.
In a high-level committee meeting chaired by 5T Secretary VK Pandian it was decided for early resolution of land issues pertaining to Sikim Raiyats and Hirakud dam project displaced people.
The 5T Secretary discussed the issues with the district Collectors of Ganjam, Sambalpur, Khordha, Puri, Balasore and Jharsuguda in the presence of Development Commissioner Anu Garg, Additional Chief Secretary & Principal Secretary to Revenue Satyabrata Sahu and Secretary, Law Department Manas Ranjan Barik through video conference. He directed the concerned officials to undertake a high-level survey to redress the issues of the landholders.
Similarly, the revenue department was asked to provide permanent Records of Rights(ROR) to the Sikkim Rayatis, awaiting regular land records (Pattas). According to the resolution, laid down in the meeting, ROR will be provided to the Hirakud Dam project-affected people living under the Rangali Tehsil in the Sambalpur district soon. Similarly, the committee resolved to distribute permanent land records to the dam-affected people of Jharsuguda district, living in as many as 18 villages under the Laxmanpur block limit.
Apart from it, the lease cases under the Puri Municipality were reviewed and decided to distribute freehold pattas to the beneficiaries with payment of minimal revenues, following the favorable amendments in the OGLS Rules.
