Bhubaneswar, Feb 19: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik launched the LaccMi Bus services in Odisha’s Subarnapur, Cuttack, Jharsuguda, Kandhamal and Sambalpur districts today.
After inaugurating the service through video conferencing, Patnaik said that people can do their daily work conveniently and at low cost by using LaccMi Bus.
With the bus service being expanded to five more districts today, a total of 205 buses will ply in 700 panchayats and will benefit more than 44 lakh people.
A total of 58 buses were rolled out in 102 panchayats of Subarnapur which will benefit 5.73 lakh people. Similarly, 48 buses will ply in 262 panchayats of Cuttack which will benefit 18.37 lakh people, 16 buses will serve 5.62 lakh people in 76 panchayats of Jharsuguda. Meanwhile, 7.03 lakh people in 164 panchayats of Kandhamal will be benefitted by 52 buses and 7.28 lakh people in 97 panchayats of Sambalpur will be benefitted by 32 buses.
Under this scheme, bus services will be offered every village in a district to the block headquarters. More than 1,000 buses will ply across the state. In this programme, launched under the 5T scheme, Mission Shakti members have been given the responsibility of operating the buses.
Addressing people on this occasion, Patnaik said that Lakshmi Bus service will play an important role in the economic development of villages.
Speaking on the occasion, 5T and Nabin Odisha Chairman VK Pandian said that hard work and sacrifice is required to secure number one position and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik is a perfect example of this.
Our beloved Chief Minister has been the number one Chief Minister in the entire country for the last 24 years. There is no comparison of his hard work and sacrifice, Pandian added.
Addressing the people of Sambalpur district, Pandian said that Sri Jagannath Express, which runs from Sambalpur to Puri twice a week, will run every day from February 25.
In the program, Principal Secretary of Commerce and Transport Department Usha Padhee delivered the welcome address.
