Bhubaneswar, Feb 27: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday inaugurated 67 'Ama Hospitals' across 15 districts of the state. Additionally, he launched a Dialysis Center at Umerkot Sub Divisional Hospital, Subarnapur District Headquarters Hospital, and BMRC Cardiac Care Hospital in Jharsuguda. Furthermore, the Chief Minister laid the foundation stone for the Sub Divisional Hospital in Begunia, Khordha district.
During the event, the Chief Minister emphasized that 'Ama Hospitals' have been designed with the utmost consideration for the convenience of the people, aiming to enhance medical care. He stated, "This initiative will mark a significant advancement in healthcare in the state." He highlighted that 'Ama Hospitals' will contribute to a substantial transformation in the healthcare sector, emphasizing their initiation based on feedback collected through the 'Mo Sarkar' initiative and proposals from the 5T Chairman's district visits.
The Chief Minister underlined the significant progress in healthcare infrastructure, basic facilities, and service delivery achieved through the 5T initiative. He announced plans to include 1858 hospitals in the program over the next five years with an allocated budget of over Rs 3,300 crore. Additionally, he mentioned the ongoing transformation work in 149 hospitals.
Speaking about healthcare services, the Chief Minister noted the recruitment of 4,000 doctors and over 3,700 nurses in the past year to enhance healthcare provision. He highlighted the success of the Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana in providing free medical facilities to all citizens, regardless of economic status, and emphasized the commitment to ensuring the well-being of every individual in Odisha.
Health and Family Welfare Minister Niranjan Pujari commended the efforts of the Chief Minister in providing facilities comparable to private hospitals in government healthcare institutions. He highlighted the establishment of Odisha's largest district-level hospital in Sonepur as a realization of a long-standing aspiration.
Coordinating the program, 5T and Nabin Odisha Chairman Kartik Pandian expressed gratitude for the successful launch of 140 'Ama Hospitals' and emphasized the importance of community cooperation in maintaining these facilities.
Various dignitaries and citizens shared their experiences and gratitude towards the Chief Minister for prioritizing healthcare. They expressed satisfaction with the quality of services provided in the 'Ama Hospitals' and thanked the Chief Minister and 5T Chairman for their efforts.
The event concluded with a welcome speech by the Secretary of Health and Family Welfare, Shalini Pandit, followed by a vote of thanks from the Director of Health.
