Bhubaneswar, Oct 8: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Sunday announced to construct a state-of-the-art library at Badambadi near Puri-Anugul bus stand in Cuttack in memory of the eminent freedom fighter Bishwanath Pandit.
As per reports, Patnaik has also approved an expenditure proposal of over Rs 30.5 crore for the library.
The decision to establish a state-of-the-art library in Cuttack in memory of eminent freedom fighter and socialist leader Bishwanath Pandit was taken during 5T Secretary VK Pandian’s Cuttack visit.
The library will be equipped with a large reading hall and students can also prepare for various competitive exams there.
It is worth mentioning here that late Bishwanath Pandit was born in Dagarpada, Cuttack. He joined the freedom struggle and went to jail. Later, he joined the socialist movement and fought for the protection of the interests of the downtrodden, workers, and laborers throughout his life.
