New Delhi, Dec 15: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday began a multi-nation tour of Jordan, Ethiopia and Oman, countries that share deep civilizational links and strong bilateral relations with India.

In a departure statement, Modi said his first stop would be Jordan at the invitation of King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein.

Calling it a historic visit, he noted that it coincides with the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between India and Jordan. During his stay, the prime minister will hold detailed discussions with King Abdullah II, Prime Minister Jafar Hassan, and Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah.

The second leg of the tour will take Modi to Ethiopia, marking his first visit to the country. He is scheduled to address a joint session of the Ethiopian Parliament, where he will share India’s democratic journey as the “Mother of Democracy” and highlight the significance of the India–Ethiopia partnership for the Global South. He will also meet Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali and interact with members of the Indian diaspora.

On the final leg of the journey, Modi will visit the Sultanate of Oman, a trip that marks 70 years of diplomatic ties between the two nations. In Muscat, he will hold talks with the Sultan of Oman focused on strengthening the strategic partnership and expanding commercial and economic cooperation. The prime minister will also address the Indian diaspora, acknowledging their vital contribution to Oman’s development and to the deepening of India–Oman relations.
