Bhubaneswar, September 20: The Mahanadi water sharing issue will be resolved soon, said Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Sunday as he arrived in Bhubaneswar on a two-day visit to Odisha.

"Mahanadi water sharing dispute is no longer a contentious issue because the BJP is in power in both states, Chhattisgarh and Odisha. As a result, there is no conflict, and a resolution will be reached very soon,” Sai told reporters upon his arrival in the capital city.

Speaking to reporters, Sai asserted that the issue will be resolved very soon.

"Ever since the BJP Government took charge, water disputes across various other States have been settled quickly and amicably. We have already discussed all aspects of it. Both Chief Ministers and officials recently met in Delhi, where we gave our consent to the Central Water Commission (CWC). Whatever decision the CWC makes in the interest of both States will be acceptable to both Chhattisgarh and Odisha," said Sai

Sai will offer prayers at the Lingaraj Temple in Bhubaneswar today and proceed to Puri later today afternoon to offer prayers at Shree Jagannath Temple. He will make night halt in Puri today. He will return to Chhattisgarh tomorrow.

Sai met his Odisha counterpart Mohan Charan Majhi at the latter’s residence in Bhubaneswar.

“It was a pleasure to receive Hon’ble Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, Shri Vishnu Deo Sai Ji, at my residence. We had a fruitful interaction on strengthening cooperation between Odisha and Chhattisgarh and advancing our shared commitment towards the development and welfare of our people,” Majhi posted on ‘X’.
