Bijapur, August 3: Nine Naxals were killed during an encounter with security forces at the Dantewada-Bijapur border in Chhattisgarh on Tuesday, police said. Authorities reported that automatic weapons were recovered from the deceased Naxals.
Dantewada Superintendent of Police Gaurav Rai stated that the forces confiscated a significant number of SLR rifles, .303 rifles, and .315 bore rifles. All personnel involved in the operation are reported to be safe, and search operations are ongoing. A comprehensive report will be issued upon completion of the operation.
Earlier in the day, a joint police team initiated a search operation after receiving intelligence about Maoist presence in the border area between Dantewada and Bijapur districts. The encounter commenced at 10:30 am.
Notably, on August 29, three female Naxalites were killed in an encounter with security forces in the dense forests of Abujhmad, Narayanpur. The deceased were identified as members of the North Bastar Division Committee and the PLGA Company Number 5.
The operation, conducted by a joint team of the District Reserve Guard (DRG), Special Task Force (STF), and the Border Security Force, resulted in the recovery of a large cache of weapons, including a .303 rifle and .315 bore guns, along with Naxal materials.
