Chandrasekharpur Police rescue two trafficked minor girls

Bhubaneswar, Ap 27: Police in Chandrasekharpur have rescued two foreign minor girls who had been trafficked from Nepal.

According to authorities, the girls, both under 18, were recovered from a hotel based on information provided by a young man. Investigations indicate that they had been brought to Bhubaneswar from Nepal for sexual exploitation.

The minors had initially come to India seeking employment but were forced into the sex trade by traffickers. After crossing the Nepal border, the girls were first taken to Kolkata in West Bengal and later to Delhi, before arriving in Bhubaneswar by train, where they were staying at a hotel in Chandrasekharpur.

On the 22nd of the month, police acted on a tip-off from a local youth and raided the hotel. The trafficker, who brought the girls to Bhubaneswar, fled before police could apprehend him.

Currently, the rescued girls have been placed in a short-stay home in Chandrasekharpur. Representatives from Nepal are expected to travel to Odisha to facilitate their safe return home. Police continue to interrogate the youth who helped in the rescue and are gathering details about the girls’ families.

Investigations are underway to determine whether the trafficker is of Indian or Nepalese origin, the network involved in Bhubaneswar, and the amount of money exchanged in the trafficking. Authorities have confirmed that the case is under close monitoring and further action will follow.
