Chandan Yatra dispute resolved after temple administration intervention

Bhubaneswar, Ap 30: A dispute during the Chandan Yatra festival has been resolved following intervention by the Srimandir Administration. The temple authorities have requested a detailed report from the temple authority, and further proceedings will be conducted once the report is submitted.

Strong winds had made it impossible to conduct the daytime procession, and disagreements among the servitors prevented the night procession from taking place. A meeting was convened to address the conflict, during which the servitors pledged to follow the established protocols of the deity’s procession.

According to Divyajyoti Parida, District Collector of Puri, the report is still awaited. On the ninth day of the Chandan Yatra, the servitors were unable to perform the traditional archery rituals at Narendra Pond due to internal disputes.

During this time, servitors Madanmohan, Ramakrishna, and Panchpandav remained on the archery stage for an extended period. Disagreements between the Singhari group and the Sudu Suar group prevented the night procession from taking place.

Efforts by the administration to resolve the issue had not yielded results initially, causing frustration among devotees who could not witness the deity’s traditional procession. A critical meeting chaired by the District Collector was held at the Srimandir office to ensure that the issue is resolved and future processions proceed smoothly.
