
Bhubaneswar, Oct 4: With the advisory of the Union Health Ministry on pediatric cough syrup, the Odisha Health department has stepped up vigilance on it.
The Drug Controller Odisha, exhorted the retailers and wholesalers not to sell further any pediatric cough syrups from their existing stocks.
According to the State Drug Controller, Mamina Patnaik, as many as 130 bottles of cough syrups, prescribed for infants were supplied to Bargarh district. However, no unit of it was sold so far.
We have advised the wholesalers and stockist points not to sell the drugs till further order. Thus, there’s nothing to be worried about any mishap, Patnaik added.
The vigilance came after some childeren’s deaths were reported in Madhya Pradesh after administering some cough syrups to the infants.
