The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has declared the Class XII board results for 2026 today. However, the board has decided not to release a merit list this year, citing the need to avoid unhealthy competition among students. Instead, a merit certificate will be awarded to the top 0.1% of students who achieve the highest marks in individual subjects.
The overall pass percentage for Class XII in 2026 stands at 85.20%, marking a decline of 3.19 percentage points from 88.39% in 2025. CBSE attributed part of this year’s results to the implementation of On-Screen Marking (OSM), a digital evaluation system applied on a full scale for the first time in Class 12 examinations. This initiative represents the largest digital assessment effort undertaken by the board so far.
The board conducted the Class XII examinations across India and abroad from February 17 to April 10, 2026, in a single shift from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm. A total of 21,825 students from foreign schools registered for the exam, of whom 21,782 appeared, and 20,694 passed, resulting in a 95.01% pass rate among foreign students.
Eligibility for CBSE Class XII Supplementary Exams:
Students who fail one subject and are placed in the Compartment Category.
Students declared pass after replacing the 6th or 7th subject can appear in the failed subject.
Students who have passed but wish to improve their marks in one or two subjects of Class X or XII.
The results are available on the UMANG app, where students can check their marks and status.
