Odia owned London restaurant celebrates differently abled Indian cricketers

Chillika Restaurant in Southeast London recently welcomed members of the Indian Physically Challenged and Differently-Abled Cricket Team. Founders Partha Sarathi Panda and Subhakanta Das organised this special gathering to honour the courage of these athletes before their upcoming international matches. This popular dining spot recently won Best of London Restaurant at the English Curry Awards 2026.

Odia expatriates have consistently promoted India's rich cultural heritage across the United Kingdom, turning local businesses into vibrant hubs for social good and community support. Fellow Director Debasmita Mohapatra and Strategic Partner Capt. Arun Kar (Retd.) helped arrange this warm reception for the visiting athletes. Former IREDA Chairman Pradip Das attended the event alongside other prominent community leaders.

Celebrating Courage and Dedication

Players have repeatedly proven that true strength comes from deep determination rather than physical limits. Special guests from the Differently Abled Cricket Council of India (DCCI), including Sumit Jain and Vinit Agrawal, joined the celebration to support the squad. Their presence highlighted ongoing national efforts to build better platforms for differently-abled sports stars across the country.

Honoured cricketers included Jayesh Parmar, Tarun, Rizwan Altaf Bhat, Arjun Rajesh Gawre, Kuldeep Singh, Yashwanth Naidu Ravuri, Vivek Kumar, Sudarsun Elangovan, Hilal Ahmad Wani, Sai Akash Saivamani, Ravindra Gopinath Sante, Yogendra Singh, Vrushant Sandip Gunjal, Rajesh Irappa Kannur, Majid Ah Magray, and Shiva Shankara Guntiganapalli Subbarayappa. Head Coach Rohit Jhalani, Assistant Coach Dev Dutt, Fielding Coach Rohit Sharma, and Health Coach Ramswaroop Saini received heartfelt appreciation. Social Media Manager Vasan Giri, Physio Mayank Pushkar, Team Manager Vineet Malhotra, and Logistic Manager Dhiraj Harde were also recognised for their hard work.

Fostering Global Community Support

Representatives from diverse Indian groups gathered to share a memorable evening of camaraderie and respect. They wanted to ensure the players knew their extraordinary achievements resonate far beyond the cricket pitch. Known for authentic Odia cuisine, this establishment regularly hosts cultural celebrations and charitable initiatives. This enthusiastic backing from the UK diaspora provided a strong morale boost for the squad. Organizers focused on spreading a powerful message of national pride, proving that genuine champions are defined by character and perseverance.
