Bhubaneswar, July 8: The Kharavelnagar Police have submitted the Case Diary (CD) to the Sessions Court in connection with the case involving BJP leader Jagannath Pradhan. The CD contains detailed findings from the preliminary investigation and lists over ten individuals as witnesses.
Pradhan, popularly known as Jaga, is currently lodged as an undertrial prisoner in Ward No. 29 of the Jharpada Special Jail. His earlier bail plea was rejected by the Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate (SDJM) court, following which he moved the District and Sessions Court seeking relief.
Senior advocate Chittaranjan Das, representing the accused, informed that the bail application was filed last Friday. Acting on the plea, the Sessions Court had directed the Investigating Officer of Kharavelnagar Police Station to submit the CD by Tuesday. With the submission completed, the bail hearing has now been scheduled for July 9.
In a related development, the police had earlier arrested five others in connection with the same case, including Ward No. 29 Corporator Aparupa Narayan Raut, Rashmi Ranjan Mahapatra, Debashis Pradhan, Sachikanta Swain, and Sanjeev Mishra. Their bail hearing is slated for July 15 in the District and Sessions Court.
