Nuapada, November 7: BJD president Naveen Patnaik on Friday again launched a scathing attack on the BJP Government in the State and urged voters in the poll-bound Nuapada to give a befitting reply to the "betrayal" done to the people of Odisha, the Biju Janata Dal, and to him personally.

Addressing an election rally in Nuapada, the former Chief Minister Patnaik asked, "What did you (people of Nuapada) get? Only dhoka and double dhoka (Only betrayal...double betrayal)."

Patnaik also held a massive roadshow in Nuapada in favour of party candidate Snehangini Chhuria in the Nuapada Assembly byeelection.

The BJD chief's remarks were aimed at late BJD MLA Rajendra Dholakia's son Jay Dholakia, who switched to the BJP ahead of the bypoll and is now contesting the bye-election on a saffron party ticket.

“The BJP may have formed a Government through lies. They can even steal candidates but would never win the hearts of the people,” said the former Chief Minister.

Maintaining that BJD believes in works and not words, Patnaik said, “Development activities have now come to a halt. Development does not happen through false propaganda. A Government cannot run on lies and false promises.”

The five-time former Chief Minister also questioned the BJP Government’s performance over the past 500 days.

“Have you (people) received 300 units of free electricity, Rs 3,500 pension, fertiliser for farmers, jobs for youth, or loans for Mission Shakti women,” asked Patnaik.

"On November 11, give a befitting answer to the betrayal through your vote. Bless Snehangini Chhuria and vote for the Conch symbol," urged Patnaik.
