Lucknow (UP), July 17: A 20-year-old BTech student from a private university reportedly died by suicide after hanging himself in the courtyard of his residence in Uttar Pradesh’s Barabanki district, police said on Thursday.
Prior to the tragic incident, the student recorded a video message which he shared on social media, accusing a 19-year-old girl—whom he referred to as his girlfriend—and her family of blackmail and extortion.
According to the student’s family, he had been in a relationship with the girl, who is currently studying at the intermediate level. Authorities have launched an investigation into the allegations and are examining the contents of the video as part of the probe.
