Malkangiri, August 20: Maoist violence has once again flared up along the Odisha-Chhattisgarh border, with a tribal youth brutally killed by the outlawed group in Kanker district. The incident has sparked fear and unrest across the region.
According to reports, the victim- identified as Manish Nuruti from Binagunda village under Chhotebethiya police limits—was abducted from his home on Monday night by a group of armed Maoists. Suspected of being a police informer, Nuruti was taken to a so-called "praja court" (people's court), where he was sentenced to death in the presence of hundreds of villagers. He was then executed in an extremely barbaric manner.
Sources confirm that the Maoists also detained two other tribal youths during the operation but later released them after assaulting them. A banner left at the scene, reportedly signed by the Partapur Area Committee of the Maoists, claimed responsibility for the killing.
The incident has created an atmosphere of panic in the border villages of Malkangiri and Kanker, where Maoist presence has long posed a threat to civilian life and security forces. Police have launched an investigation and are maintaining a close watch on the area.
