Jharsuguda, Feb 17: In a tragic incident, a young woman who was set to get married next month lost her life in a road accident while returning home with her brother after distributing wedding invitation cards.
The accident occurred near Ghusuramunda village under Gandhi Chhak outpost in Jharsuguda district. According to reports, the motorcycle they were travelling on lost balance and crashed into a roadside tree.
The deceased has been identified as Hirabati Rohidas of Sundargarh district. Her brother, Niranjan Rohidas, sustained critical injuries in the mishap. He was initially admitted to the Jharsuguda District Headquarters Hospital and later shifted to Burla Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment.
Sources said Hirabati’s wedding was scheduled for March 1. She had visited Jharsuguda with her brother to distribute invitation cards and was returning home when the fatal accident took place. She died on the spot, while her brother continues to undergo treatment.
