Bhubaneswar, Oct 14: Online auto services in Odisha’s Bhubaneswar City were almost disrupted on Tuesday following disagreement between two Auto Drivers Associations.

Over the arrest of an online auto driver today, the Smart City Online Auto drivers Association went off the road stalling online auto services across the city wreaking concern for the commuters.

They demand immediate release of the auto- driver, who was allegedly held despite his head injuries, sustained by the assault of an offline auto driver.

According to reports, members of the Smart City Online Auto Drivers’ Association gheraoed the Capital Police Station citing illegal arrest of one of their members.Apart from it, they parked hundreds of their vehicles in front of the police station, causing unprecedented congestion in the traffic along the Rajmahal–AG Square stretch.

Worth mentioning, there have been long standing disputes between the associations regarding picking passengers.The online drivers offen allege that the offline counterparts prevent their ways in picking up passengers in the station area. It’s why passengers suffer a lot to pick auto-rickshaws at their arms length.

On the other hand, the station auto drivers, express their concerns for their loss, they do face for the abundance of online auto-rickshaws. Both the associations however urge police to resolve an amicable settlement.
