Recovery of flight recorders provides crucial leads for investigators
In a major breakthrough following the tragic aviation accident that claimed the life of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, investigators have successfully recovered vital equipment from the wreckage. Search teams located both the cockpit voice recorder and the flight data recorder at the Baramati incident site on Thursday.
The Ministry of Civil Aviation confirmed that these "black boxes" are now in official custody. These devices are critical for understanding the final moments before the Ajit Pawar plane crash, as they record pilot communications and technical flight parameters. Experts from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) along with forensic specialists are currently on the ground to lead the high-level inquiry.
While the technical probe moves forward, the Pune Rural Police have officially filed an Accidental Death Report (ADR). This legal step allows local authorities to conduct a parallel investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash that killed the veteran Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader and five other individuals on January 28.
Meanwhile, a wave of mourning has gripped Baramati. Supporters gathered in massive numbers outside the Ahilyabai Holkar Government Medical College to catch a final glimpse of their leader, fondly known as 'Dada'. His mortal remains are being transported in a flower-decked chariot for the final rites.
The funeral procession is scheduled to move through the heart of the city, allowing the public to pay their respects before the last rites take place at the Vidya Pratishthan ground. This tragic end comes as Pawar was traveling to his home turf for a political rally, marking a somber conclusion to a long and influential career in Maharashtra politics.
