Cuttack, Dec 8: Body of the man who was missing since last few days was found stuffed in a gunny bag from a water body near his house. The incident has been reported from Kabichandrapur under Niali police limits in Odisha’s Cuttack district.
The deceased has been identified as Prakash Sahoo. Prakash had gone from home on Sunday but did not return. A missing complaint was lodged with Nialipolice in this regard.
However, on Friday, locals spotted a gunny bag filled with a body floating in a water body near the deceased’s house. Being informed, police reached the spot, seized the body and sent it for post-mortem.
According to the information, Prakash had brought a paddy harvester from one Arup Nayak of the same village. However, Praksh had gone to Arup on Sunday but did not return. His family members tried to search for him but in vain. Later, they lodged a missing complaint with police.
“My husband had gone to that Arup as he had brought a paddy harvester machine from him. I don’t know what happened between them. That day, I tried to contact my husband twice but Arup received his phone and said that he is busy with work. After that, he went missing. We searched for him everywhere but could not trace. I am sure; they have killed my husband for some unknown reason”, said the wife of the deceased.
“The body was found in a gunny bag with hands and legs tied. It seems to be a case of murder. We will register a case and start an investigation after a complaint lodged by his wife. However, we have detained two persons of the same locality suspecting their involvement in this case,” said Cuttack rural SP.
