Chilika, Oct 25: A sailor has reportedly gone missing in Chilika Lake in Odisha on Wednesday after the ferry boat capsized in the water.
The missing sailor has been identified as Bikram Jali, a resident of Balabhadrapur village.
Sources said, Bikram was ferrying as many as five visitors on his motor boat for sightseeing in the Chilika Lake in the afternoon. Meanwhile, the propelling engine went defunct near the Magarmukh bit of the lake. As a result the sailor accidentally fell off the boat whereas the visitors were stranded in the water. Luckily some sailors, being aware of the incident rushed to the spot and rescued the visitors with their boats. At the same time, the locals initiated a search operation for Bikram.
The search operation is underway. However, the whereabouts of Bikram is yet to be ascertained, the sources added.
