Angul, Mar 13: A man was charred to death when a tanker he was driving overturned and caught fire on National Highway 149 near Balipashi Square under Khamar police station in Angul district on Thursday.

According to reports, the tanker, carrying pitch from Talcher to Pallahara, lost balance and overturned, sparking a blaze that engulfed the vehicle. The driver, trapped inside, was burned to death.

Fire brigade and police personnel rushed to the scene, recovered the body, and sent it to Pallahara Sub-Divisional Hospital for post-mortem.

The incident remains under investigation, and authorities are examining the circumstances that led to the mishap.
