Bhubaneswar, Nov, 29: The politics in Paradip has suddenly heated up.
President of India, Droupadi Murmu, who attended the annual function of Paradip Port and Boita Bandana program on Monday, did not mention the name of Biju Patnaik, who had a crucial role in the establishment of the major port on the Eastern Coast, alleged, BJD MLA from Paradip Sambit Routray. He had threatened that his party had the capacity to shut down the port within no time.
Coming down heavily on the BJD MLA for unnecessarily dragging Murmu, former MP Bibhu Prasad Tarai said it's unfortunate to show disrespect to the President by the ruling party.
On Tuesday, Union Minister of State for Ports, Shipping, Waterways and Tourism Sripad Naik blamed the state government for hindering the development of Paradip port.
While he was in Puri, he said the port was not getting business due to a lack of infrastructure. The existing road link to the port is very narrow; the port authorities have been requesting the state government for its widening for a long time. There has been no response from the state government so far, alleged the union minister.
