BJD may replace candidates in 3 Assembly constituencies of Cuttack

Cuttack, Oct 11: The ruling Biju Janata Dal is mulling fielding three new candidates in the Niali, Salepur, and Mahanga constituencies of Cuttack district, according to party sources.

BJD leaders Subash Mallick, Trupti Behera, and sprinter Amiya Mallick are in the limelight ahead of the 2024 Assembly elections. The party has already decided to choose one of the three aspirants. It is reported that sprinter Amiya Mallick has already been assured by the BJD.

Similarly, in Salepur, MLA Prashant Behera and businessman Himanshu Mohanty are leaving no stone unturned to showcase their strength in the constituency. Young woman leader Apuba Aparupa is also busy making its parallel organization in Salepur and she has good support.

In Mahanga, former Speaker Sarat Kar's son Sobhan Kar is gearing up to make his political entry in 2024. The party is considering to replace controversial MLA Pratap Jena. The party may also field him from the Kendrapara Lok Sabha seat.
