Bhubaneswar, Aug 31: With the panic wreaked by the bird flu cases in Khordha areas, the dangerours bird flu has been detected in the Bhubaneswar City.
In a bid to contain the disease in the urban areas, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has sounded alert and warned the denizens to get rid of the disease with basic preventives.
In a statement issued in favour of the public notice, the BMC advised poultry meat traders to refrain from purchasing chicken from the affected areas viz Khordha and the nearby vicinity in the Bhubaneswar City where the virus has been recently detected.
At the same time, the ULB urged citizens to report abnormal deaths or illnesses of chickens or straying birds in their locality.
Acting on finding the bird flu virus in the smart city, BMC Mayor Sulochana Das said, elaborate arrangements have been made to contain the disease if detected elsewhere. Large-scale awareness campaign will be initiated to sensitize denizens with the detection of a case of Bird Flu here. However, she appealed people to avoid chicken during this time when bird flu cases are on the rise.
