Bhubaneswar: Youth dies by suicide over failed love affair

Bhubaneswar, Apr 29: In an unfortunate incident, a 22-year-old youth allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself reportedly over failed love affair in Baramunda area of Bhubaneswar last evening.
The deceased has been identified as Rahul Gochhayat and he had been living at Maa Mangala Dalit Sahi in Baramunda with his mother after leaving his native village.
Though the exact reason behind Rahul’s death remains unclear, his family members have alleged that he has taken this extreme step due to a failed love affair.
According to Rahul’s family, he was reportedly in a romantic relationship with a girl from the same locality. He used to shower her with expensive gifts. Despite his efforts, the relationship didn’t last and the girl recently rejected the idea of marriage.
His family members added that this deeply affected Rahul and he was unable to bear the emotional distress. Following this emotional turmoil, Rahul ended his life.
His family has alleged that the girl’s actions and influence drove him to suicide.
Upon getting the information, police arrived at the scene and seized the body. Subsequently, it was sent for post-mortem.
We are currently investigating the matter and are awaiting the post-mortem report. Everything will be clear soon, said police officials.
