The accused have been identified as Sarat Kumar Paltasingh (57) and Sukanta Kumar Paltasingh (47). Both are residents of Jagamara and were allegedly involved in the illegal sale of narcotic cough syrups.

Acting on a tip-off about the unauthorised sale of contraband near Khandagiri Hill, a police team swiftly launched a raid. During the operation, the officers caught the duo red-handed while they were reportedly selling banned codeine-based cough syrups without any valid authorisation or license.

From their possession, police recovered:

33 bottles of Eskuf Cough Syrup (100 ml each),

28 bottles of Wincerex Cough Syrup (100 ml each), and

A two-wheeler (Scooty) bearing registration number OD02BL4556.

Police have booked the accused under relevant sections of the NDPS Act, and further investigation is underway to trace the source of the supply and potential links to a larger distribution network.

Officials confirmed that the Khandagiri police are maintaining heightened vigilance to curb the illegal sale of narcotic substances in the area.
