Bhubaneswar, Sept 14: Dengue in Odisha Capital has breached the 3000 cases mark and taken 1000 localities under its grip in nine days starting from September 1.
The city reported 132 cases on September 5 and 157 on September 6. While 237 cases were reported on September 7, the city reported 143 cases on September 8 out of 676 blood samples tested. The positive rate has been 21 percent in this ratio, mush higher than August.
As many as 3,548 cases have been reported in the city so far, according to government data.
The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) struggling to contain its spread announcing 40 areas as red zone after degue cases were reported from 183 places under its jurisdiction with highest 141 cases from Saheed Nagar.
According to BMC data, as many as 132 cases have been reported from Nayapalli, 121 from Acharya Vihar, 109 from Patia, 99 from Unit - IX, 72 from Unit - VI, 90 cases from Jayadev Vihar and 87 from Satya Nagar.
