Bhubaneswar, Oct 20: The Commissionerate Police has banned DJ music during Dussehra idol immersion processions in the capital city, warning that violators will face seizure of equipment and criminal cases.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Saravana Vivek M announced the restrictions on Tuesday.
The DCP said the police had held two meetings with immersion procession organisers to explain the rules and discuss arrangements for the festivities. The organisers had agreed to comply with the restrictions, he added.
“DJ music is prohibited during immersion processions in Bhubaneswar. If anyone violates the rules, the DJ equipment will be seized and a criminal case will be registered,” Saravana said.
He said that when organisers sought alternatives to DJ music, the police advised them to use traditional musical instruments.
Meanwhile, the police have finalised security arrangements for ‘Ravan Podi’ events scheduled at nine locations across Bhubaneswar.
The DCP said permission had been granted for the events and that organisers had been instructed to follow safety guidelines to prevent accidents.
Under the prescribed safety measures, a minimum clearance of 100 metres must be maintained in all directions from each event site. Fireworks storage facilities must be situated at least 250 metres away from the venues.

Two platoons of police personnel will be deployed at each of the nine locations, while fire service teams have also been requisitioned to handle emergencies. Saravana expressed hope that the events would conclude peacefully and urged organisers to cooperate with the police and fire service personnel.
Meanwhile, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has developed temporary immersion ponds at six locations to facilitate the Bhasani ceremonies. Three ponds have been set up near the Kuakhai River, while the remaining three are located near the Daya River, Centurion University and in the Chandaka area.
