Bhubaneswar, Oct 16: A fake call centre operating from an apartment in Bhubaneswar city was busted on Wednesday morning.
Six employees of the call centre have been detained after seizure of some SIM box like devices from a flat in A-205 block of Kanchan apartment in Sundarpada, said Commissionerate police.
Initial reports suggest that Cyber Police and a team of Airfield police conducted a joint raid in the apartment acting on a special input.
The call centre was purportedly used for cyber fraud, said an official of Bhubaneswar cyber police.
We have detained six persons who were working at the call centre. They are being questions and will be taken in remand for further investigation after being produced before the court. It is suspected that they were operating cyber crime from the illegal call centre, said police.
Notably, Commissionerate Police had found SIM boxes from a rented house in Bhubaneswar in August this year. Investigations revealed that the syndicate was being directly controlled from Dhaka, Bangladesh.
